JERSEY CITY, NJ - Jersey City Board of Education President Mussab Ali is in complete remission from Stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Ali announced in March that he had been diagnosed with cancer, but that he expected to survive it.

The American Cancer Society describes Hodgkin lymphoma (Hodgkin disease) as a cancer that starts in white blood cells called lymphocytes. Lymphocytes are part of the body’s immune system.

“Praise be to God,” Ali said in a statement Monday. “These last few months have been some of the most difficult to endure during my lifetime.” Adding his thanks to the medical staff at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center where he was treated and also served as a legal intern over the summer, Ali said that everyone at the hospital is “committed to the mission of beating cancer and made me feel supported in my battle.”
